Zucchini nuggets

If you are tired of simple stuffed or fried zucchini, but you can't stop enjoying the awesome taste and wonderful color, try this one. I can assure you that you will love it!

Ingredients:
  • 1 unpeeled, grated zucchini
  • 1 egg
  • salt, pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • parsley
  • bread crumbs
  • oil fro frying
Directions:

Preheat your deep- fryer / deep fry pan.
In a large bowl, beat eggs until foamy, stir in grated zucchini. Add salt, pepper, pressed garlic and so much bread crumbs that makes your 'dollop' is easy to form with your wet hands.
Create small balls and make them flat between the palms of your hands.
Deep fry the flat balls for 5-10 minutes, depending on the heat of your stove/temperature of your deep-fryer and the size of your balls.
When the bread crumbs go a dark brown color, remove them carefully, and rest them for 5 minutes on some paper towels to drain some of the oil.

Authentic Hungarian style creamed spinach

I am convinced that this is the Nr.1 food in Hungary people love or hate or rather love to hate :)

Ingredients:
  • 450 g spinach or Swiss chard (frozen chopped)
  • 200 ml milk
  • 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic, finely chopped or pressed
  • salt, pepper
  • 1-2 Tbsp. bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
Directions:

Melt in a small saucepan over low heat 2 Tbsp. butter with the finely chopped/ pressed fresh garlic cloves. Sauté garlic in butter for a few minutes. (Note: do not let garlic burn or it will be bitter!)
Add the frozen and chopped spinach to it while adding gradually milk.
Season with salt and pepper.
Thicken it with bread scrumbs or blend 2 Tbsp. flour in a little oil (in another pan) to make a roux and add it.

Serve it with boiled egg, fried egg, baked bacon (oven fried bacon) and/or mashed potatoes.

Wild strawberry - strawberry shake

Hi, my name is Andrea and I am a strawberry addict. Normally I can control it by buying just one small box of them in the store... but when May comes and the garden is just full of them, I completely lost my mind. I swear to God that I try to do my best, but sometimes it happens that I eat so much that I can't no longer walk or breathe normal. To save some for my boo and don't act like a strawzilla, I decided to make this refreshing shake with its vibrant colours. Enjoy!

Ingredients:
  • ca. 10 pcs. of strawberries (washed and stems removed)
  • 1-2 hand full of wild strawberries (washed and stems removed)
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 2 dl milk
  • 10 pcs. smaller ice cubes

Directions:

Combine the strawberries, wild strawberries, milk, honey and ice in a blender and blend on high until just smooth. Divide the mixture between 2 cups and top with a few pcs. of fresh wild strawberries.

Ready, steady, blog

For a long time I was wondering how it could be to start blogging in English as well. I was thinking, dreaming, planning and finally I took a deep breath and made the big decision: I create a sub-blog under my Hungarian version to open my little world to non-Hungarians. A lot of questions were flickering in my head: is anybody out there willing to read my recipes? is my English good enough to do that?
Well, I guess it's a question of the future. Because from today all my knowledge in the kitchen and gastronomy will be shared with you who takes her/his time to enjoy the ride on this bumpy road of mine in the land of gastrotherapy.

So, my dear reader, let me warmly welcome to my Gastroworld!
